The finest one-iron striker in the history of the game was born 70 years ago today.  The Golf Channel has compiled a fact for every year of his life, including this gem posted at 67:

“On the morning of his wedding (July 23, 1960), Nicklaus played a full round of golf at Scioto Country Club with three of his friends. He cold topped his last drive as a single man into a water hazard left of the 18th tee box.

The United States Golf Association has compiled video highlights of memorable championships, including Jack’s One-Iron that clanged the pin on the 71st hole in 1972 at course on the Monterey Peninsula.
